Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Farmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Sonnen will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farmer takes a jab right on the kisser.

It looks like Shawn Farmer has been cut.
Sonnen throws a sloppy head kick and Farmer moves out of range easily.
Sonnen throws a right hand that Farmer ducks under and follows up with a left that Farmer also avoids with ease.
Sonnen shoots in looking for a takedown. Farmer tries to sprawl out of it but Sonnen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Farmer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sonnen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Farmer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sonnen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Farmer controls the pace.
Sonnen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Farmer is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shawn Farmer.

Sonnen throws a right and a left that Farmer avoids nicely.

Farmer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sonnen wants to get back to his feet but Farmer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Farmer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Farmer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sonnen is trying to defend but Farmer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sonnen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Farmer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sonnen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Farmer somewhat.
Sonnen throws a series of punches but Farmer moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Farmer misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Sonnen is breathing heavily.
Sonnen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sonnen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Farmer circles away quickly and effectively.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Farmer dives in and grabs Sonnen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sonnen pushes down on Farmer's head and hops out.
Sonnen throws a sloppy head kick and Farmer moves out of range easily.
Sonnen looks to land a left hand but Farmer moved out of range nicely.
Sonnen scores with a jab to the head.
Sonnen throws a hook but Farmer blocks it.

Farmer shoots in and bounces Sonnen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Sonnen is trying to force a seperation but Farmer has the dominant position.
Farmer misses with a short punch on the inside.
Farmer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sonnen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Farmer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sonnen smiles and moves away.
Sonnen tries to bum rush Farmer with a series of wild strikes but Farmer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sonnen throws a right hand that Farmer ducks under and follows up with a left that Farmer also avoids with ease.
Sonnen misses with a double jab.
Sonnen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Farmer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Farmer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sonnen fails to land with a series of punches.
Sonnen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Farmer.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Farmer.
Sonnen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Farmer closes the distance and clinches up with Sonnen, looking for a takedown. Farmer pushes Sonnen against the cage but Sonnen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Farmer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Farmer lands in his opponent's guard.

Farmer wanted to stand there but Sonnen had control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Farmer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sonnen swivels and escapes.

Sonnen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Farmer.

I would just about give that final round to Frank Sonnen.
