PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Norman Parke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norman Parke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ross Stuart!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parke cracks Stuart with an open hand slap.
Stuart throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stuart has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Parke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stuart.
Stuart misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Parke.
Stuart throws a lazy right hand but Parke sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Parke tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stuart sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Parke somewhat.
Ross Stuart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parke throws a body punch but Stuart moves out of range.

Stuart shoots in looking for a takedown. Parke tries to sprawl out of it but Stuart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Parke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Parke throws a jab but it's blocked by Stuart.
Parke misses with a looping right.
Parke avoids the body shot from Stuart.
Parke gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Parke blocks a leg kick.
Jab, jab by Parke - just one landing.
Stuart tries to land a leg kick but Parke saw it coming and moves away.
Stuart throws a big shot that misses.
Stuart throws a shot from downtown. Parke moves away and avoids it.

The fighters circling - Parke throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stuart throws a poor cross that misses

and Parke counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Stuart is looking for a sweep.
Stuart takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Parke is looking to take a break and control but Stuart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Parke looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Stuart is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parke misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Stuart stops Parke from passing to mount.
Parke remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Parke wants to control but Stuart is keeping him busy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Parke in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Stuart looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Parke turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
