2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alvin Demonyo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phillip Ross! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Demonyo tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ross missing with a left hand there. Demonyo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Ross looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Demonyo tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance. Demonyo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ross fails with a takedown attempt. Ross ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Demonyo moves away. Demonyo gets a clinch. Demonyo is trying to force a seperation but Ross has the dominant position. Demonyo lands an uppercut. Ross pulls Demonyo into guard.
Ross is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Demonyo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ross's guard. Ross pushes a forearm under Demonyo's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Demonyo is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Phillip Ross! Phillip Ross was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
