Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Landen Maderia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroshi Tanaka!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanaka misses with a takedown
and Maderia counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Maderia is trying to trip Tanaka. He has hold of a leg but Tanaka is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Maderia persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Maderia avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tanaka has his foot on Maderia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maderia works his way back into a safe position though.

Tanaka has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Maderia is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tanaka.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Maderia is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tanaka will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Tanaka is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Landen Maderia wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Maderia connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Landen Maderia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hiroshi Tanaka.
Maderia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maderia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round but I would say that Landen Maderia will probably get the nod.
That's time! Maderia's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Maderia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Maderia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Maderia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hiroshi Tanaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tanaka tries to sprawl but Maderia drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Tanaka is looking for submissions but instead, Maderia has regained full guard.
Maderia pulls Tanaka in close to his closed guard and prevents Tanaka from doing any damage or advancing position.

Landen Maderia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A determined Landen Maderia didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
