25 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Roman Kvasov! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kvasov throws a low kick but Jones moves out of range easily. Kvasov misses with a looping left. Kvasov should have avoided that one. Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Jones staying out of range there. Jones works Kvasov's body with a nice hook. Kvasov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jones connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kvasov scrambles back to his feet. Kvasov misses with a straight right. Jones is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
It looks like Tom Jones has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Jones is looking to take a break and control but Kvasov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Tom Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kvasov tries to work over Jones's front leg with a kick but Jones checks it. Kvasov lands a slapping body shot.

Kvasov throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kvasov to the mat! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones prevents Kvasov from getting back to his feet. Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones prevents Kvasov from getting back to his feet. Jones slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kvasov is trying to get back to his feet. Jones throws a strike aimed at the side of Kvasov's head but Kvasov avoids it well. Kvasov is trying to get back to his feet. Jones lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones wants to clinch up but Kvasov keeps it at a distance. Kvasov tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Kvasov cracks a nice hook into Jones's ribs. Jones is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A solid body kick from Jones. A lazy left from Jones finds it's target. Kvasov throws a head kick that misses. Kvasov throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kvasov tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Kvasov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots. Jones wants to pass to mount but Kvasov is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow. Jones trying to control the action but Kvasov is working from the bottom. Kvasov wants to get back to his feet. Kvasov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Jones performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Jones content to control rather than advance. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kvasov's head.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jones connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kvasov momentarily.
Jones fakes the leg kick and cracks Kvasov in the body. Kvasov on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
This has been an exciting period of action! Jones with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Jones throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kvasov on the side of the head. Roman Kvasov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kvasov misses with a wild combination.
Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones catches Kvasov with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Jones looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Kvasov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jones.
Kvasov is rocked! Roman Kvasov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kvasov has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jones. Kvasov is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him? Jones lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Kvasov can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Jones and Kvasov drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Jones.
