PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between TJ Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slade comes to the cage accompanied by Yesterday Don't Mean Shit. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, TJ Slade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Curtis Angel!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slade shoots in for a takedown but Angel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Slade drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Slade tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
You can see the frustration on Angel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Slade tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Slade has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Angel is trying to control Slade's posture but Slade avoids it.
Slade misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Angel is not content to let Slade control the position.
Slade is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Angel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angel can do anything to dispel that myth.
Angel is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Slade goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Angel has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Slade but great work by Angel.
Angel is looking to take a break and control but Slade is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Angel looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Slade is avoiding damage well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Angel is working Slade over with some ground and pound from side control.
Angel tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Angel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slade. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Angel throws a strike aimed at the side of Slade's head but Slade avoids it well.

Angel scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Slade to see if he's OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Slade is not content to let Angel control the position.
Slade manages to work his way to half guard, despite Angel's best efforts.
Angel winds up and cracks Slade with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slade on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.


Slade is rocked!
Slade is breathing heavily.
Angel scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Oh Slade is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Angel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Slade is just riding it out for now. Angel eventually gives up the hold.
Angel scores with a big shot! Slade's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Slade! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Curtis Angel!
The defeated TJ Slade had this to say: 'You may have won this battle, but I've already won the war.'.
