Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fred Mcdaniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Rexman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rexman.
Mcdaniel shoots in and drives through. Rexman sprawls well.
Rexman connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mcdaniel. Mcdaniel circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Rexman moves into the clinch.
Mcdaniel lands an uppercut.
Rexman fails to pull guard.
Rexman working hard to break the clinch.
Rexman tries to break free but Mcdaniel pushes him back against the cage.
Rexman is looking to break free of the clinch but Mcdaniel has double underhooks.
Rexman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Nice body punch from Mcdaniel.

Mcdaniel lands a nice uppercut.
Mcdaniel lands with a left to the head.
Rexman tries to break the clinch but Mcdaniel is controlling the position.

Rexman is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mcdaniel to keep the fight standing.

Mcdaniel digs a good body shot into Rexman's ribs.

Rexman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mcdaniel quickly recovers to half guard.
Mcdaniel is refusing to be controlled, as Rexman sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rexman prevents Mcdaniel from standing back up.
Rexman is taking a breather. Mcdaniel says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Rexman wants to work for an arm triangle but Mcdaniel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mcdaniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rick Rexman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mcdaniel goes for a double leg but Rexman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rexman continues to drive forward.

Fred Mcdaniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Rexman.

Rexman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcdaniel swivels and escapes.
Mcdaniel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rexman but Rexman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rexman is defended easily by Mcdaniel.
Rexman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcdaniel pinned against the cage. Mcdaniel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mcdaniel can't do much from the bottom here.

Mcdaniel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rexman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rexman tries to pull guard but Mcdaniel holds him up against the cage and eventually Rexman drops back down to his feet.
Rexman jumps guard but Mcdaniel stands there with Rexman around his waist. Rexman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rexman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mcdaniel smiles and moves away.
No luck for Rexman with that takedown attempt.

Rick Rexman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Mcdaniel lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Rexman backwards.

Mcdaniel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rexman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mcdaniel lands a shot to the body.

Rexman looking for a takedown.
Rexman wants to break free but Mcdaniel has control.
Mcdaniel displaying some good clinch control by pressing Rexman up against the cage.
Rexman is working for takedown but Mcdaniel is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mcdaniel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Mcdaniel counters with a big head kick but Rexman shrugs it off.
Rexman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mcdaniel.
Rexman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcdaniel sprawls well. Mcdaniel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rexman gets slowly back to his feet.

Rexman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcdaniel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rexman defends well and Mcdaniel ends up having to push Rexman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Rick Rexman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Rexman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mcdaniel smiles and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fred Mcdaniel.
I think Rexman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
