Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Faulkner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcin Held! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Faulkner gets caught flat footed, as Held shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Held advances position into side control! Held wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Faulkner, who protects the arm well. Held taking a breather here. Faulkner tries to get back to half guard but can't. Held slows the pace down. Faulkner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Faulkner tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Held tries to advance to mount but Faulkner denies him. Faulkner is being controlled here. Faulkner tries to buck Held off but Held is having none of it. Held should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Faulkner managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Held.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Held taking a breather here. Held is trying to get an arm triangle but Faulkner is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Held happy to just control the position for now. Faulkner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Held on the ground. Held tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Held has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Held is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Faulkner looks calm but he's in trouble here. Held gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Faulkner is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Held lets go of the hold and Faulkner can pop his arm back in it's socket.
