10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Van Der Sluijs! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Der Sluijs explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. We've been informed that Van Der Sluijs has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Adama misses with a body kick. William Adama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Der Sluijs throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Van Der Sluijs throws a head kick that misses. Adama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Adama tries to land a body kick and Van Der Sluijs connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Adama misses with a lunging right hand

Adama loads up on a big right hand but Van Der Sluijs slips the punch. Adama tries to land a leg kick but Van Der Sluijs saw it coming and moves away.

Van Der Sluijs lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Van Der Sluijs throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Van Der Sluijs and Adama are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Van Der Sluijs throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Adama into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Van Der Sluijs knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). James Van Der Sluijs! A less than humble James Van Der Sluijs misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
