Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Heath Chappell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen White Rabbit as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Heath Chappell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Scott!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Scott. Those never looked like landing.
Chappell lands a nice looking body kick.
Chappell tries to close the distance and clinch but Scott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scott keeps the fight on the outside.
Chappell is looking to clinch but Scott is avoiding it.
Scott misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chappell throws a leg kick but Scott sees it coming and moves out of range.
Scott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chappell defends it nicely.
Chappell tries to clinch up

and Scott counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chappell's guard now.
Chappell keeping moving, preventing Scott from controlling successfully.
Chappell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Scott with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Chappell is keeping the position.
Scott missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chappell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chappell wants to stand up but Scott is controlling him.

Scott is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Chappell is looking to stand up but Scott isn't so interested in that idea.
Scott trying to control the position from guard on top but Chappell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott throwing strikes but missing.
Chappell wants to stand and escape but Scott is having none of it.
Scott scoring with punches to the head and body.
Chappell wants to stand up but Scott is controlling him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chappell wriggles free and stands up.
Chappell tries to clinch up but Scott circles away and keeps his distance.
Scott is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chappell wants to clinch up but Scott keeps it at a distance.
Chappell is looking to clinch but Scott is avoiding it.
Chappell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chappell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Scott manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Scott lands a takedown into guard.
Chappell wants to stand up but Scott is controlling him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chappell trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott trying to control the position from guard on top but Chappell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chappell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Scott looking to pass the guard.
Scott working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chappell's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scott loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Scott passes Chappell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Scott dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Scott takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Chappell moves into the clinch.
Chappell using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Scott has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Scott is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Chappell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Chappell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Scott counters by moving into the clinch.
Chappell lands a damaging elbow.
Chappell unloads a knee to the mid-section. Scott lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Jason Scott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Scott shoots for a takedown but Chappell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Chappell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Scott keeps the fight on the outside.
Scott on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Chappell. Chappell obviously looking to wear him down.

Chappell wants to clinch.
Heath Chappell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chappell as he jumps to the side.
Heath Chappell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Scott.
Chappell moves to clinch but Scott breaks away

and Scott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Scott thows a huge punch but Chappell dodges it nicely.
Scott is trying to control the action in half guard but Chappell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Scott lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Chappell is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Scott scores with a couple of nice shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scott prevents Chappell from standing back up.
Scott is stalling here. Chappell is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Scott seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Chappell has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Scott is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Scott is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chappell pulls his head out easily.

Chappell wants to stand up but Scott has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Jason Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.
Scott has his hands clasped together around Chappell's back. He's all about the action.

Scott moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Scott looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Heath Chappell will probably get the nod.

Scott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Scott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Scott controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Scott looking to sit in guard and control but Chappell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Chappell wants to stand but Scott is controlling his posture from full guard.

Scott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Chappell trying to stand up but can't free himself from Scott's guard.

Scott is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Chappell rolls with it to try and escape but Scott cranks on the arm and Chappell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jason Scott!
After winning the bout, Jason Scott thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
