Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thad Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad Koloff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thad Ray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Koloff!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Koloff.
Ray really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Koloff is defended easily by Ray.

Koloff shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ray manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ray working a defensive guard here.
Koloff missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Koloff trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Koloff slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ray is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thad Ray.

Koloff clinches with his opponent.
Koloff comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Thad Ray has been cut.
Ray goes for a takedown attempt but Koloff pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Koloff tries to bum rush Ray with a series of wild strikes but Ray uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vlad Koloff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Koloff fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ray to the ground. Koloff is now in Ray's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koloff wants to pass the guard but Ray is keeping the position.
Koloff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ray. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Koloff trying to control but Ray is working from the bottom.
Ray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Koloff is one step ahead there.
Ray can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Koloff controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vlad Koloff was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ray fails with a takedown attempt.
Koloff looks to land a combination but Ray avoids it well.
Koloff chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ray shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Koloff defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thad Ray. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ray on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Koloff. Koloff obviously looking to wear him down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koloff fails with the takedown.

Koloff has Ray up against the cage in a clinch.

Ray is trying to trip Koloff. He has hold of a leg but Koloff is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ray persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Koloff looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Koloff not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Koloff tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ray working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Koloff's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Koloff pushes Ray off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vlad Koloff dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Thad Ray's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Koloff with a poor takedown

and Ray counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Koloff is trying to get back to full guard.

Koloff is defending against the submission attempts here by Ray.
Ray prevents Koloff from improving his position.
Koloff is trying to maintain the position but Ray is very close to passing his half guard.

Koloff kicks off Ray and gets to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koloff misses with an uppercut. Ray saw that one coming.
Koloff throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


Ray is rocked!
Thad Ray is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Koloff drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Oh Ray is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ray takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ray is looking for a sweep.
Ray takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ray wants to control but Koloff postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Koloff happy to just control the position for now.
Ray takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Koloff stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Koloff dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Ray has had enough and taps out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Vlad Koloff!
