PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Ming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Ming had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Ming!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Williams!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ming tries to clinch up.
Ming blocks the body kick.
Williams has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ming is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Williams lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ming closes this distance looking for a takedown but Williams circles away.
Williams scores with a jab to the body.
Williams uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ming.
Ming looks to land a combination but Williams avoids it well.
Williams lands a head shot.
Williams throws a leg kick which misses Ming's front leg but catches the back leg as Ming tries to avoid it.
Ming lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ming.


It looks like Owen Williams has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Williams throws a head kick that half lands.
Ming tests Williams's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Williams connects with a solid leg kick.
Williams steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ming.
Williams throws a good cross that connects.
Williams lands with a slapping head kick.
Ming looks to throw the jab but Williams is out of range.
Ming takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Williams feints and then cracks Ming's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ming down.
Ming tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Williams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Williams slips a straight right by Ming.
Ming avoids the head kick by Williams.
Ming stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Williams.

Ming shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ming misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Williams counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Williams. Ming shrugs it off though.
Ming swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ming takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Williams scores with a shot to the body.
Williams defending well as Ming loads up on a big left hand.
Ming takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Williams throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ming on the side of the head.
Williams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ming swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Williams has closed the distance and engaged Ming in a clinch.
Williams misses with a hook to the ribs.
Williams throws a head punch that misses.
Ming can't break the clinch.
Ming looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Ming. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ming is looking to break free of the clinch but Williams has double underhooks.
Williams lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Williams lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ming backwards.

Ming tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ming tries to close the distance and clinch up but Williams swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ming tries to break the clinch but Williams is controlling the position.

Ming wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Williams has him pressed against the cage.
Williams lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Ming's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Williams lands a big head kick that sends Ming tumbling to the mat! Williams takes a step backwards and waves Ming back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Ming is rocked!
Paul Ming seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt.
Oh Ming is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Ming moves out of range easily.
Williams avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ming sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ming seems to have got his legs back now.
Williams wants to clinch up but Ming keeps it at a distance.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from Ming.
Ming gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ming on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Williams tries to clinch but Ming is having none of it.
A jab from Williams finds it's way through Ming's defenses.
Williams connects with a single shot there.
Ming blocks a head kick by Williams.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ming tries to land a front kick but Williams steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Williams lands a big head kick that sends Ming tumbling to the mat! Williams takes a step backwards and waves Ming back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Ming throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams scores with a kick to the midsection.
Williams throws a half hearted mid kick.
Williams scores with a push kick.
Ming throws a big shot that misses.
Ming chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Williams can pounce on him.
Williams scores with a head kick.
Paul Ming is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Whack! Williams lands a heavy head kick that drops Ming. The ref tackles Williams to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Ming was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Owen Williams!
