PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ramus Arthanier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Risto Korpisuo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arthanier comes to the cage accompanied by P.O.D. - Boom. Korpisuo has chosen Eläkeläiset - Humpparaakki as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ramus Arthanier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 26 - 1, fighting out of New York, Risto Korpisuo!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arthanier lands a nice looking kick to the body. Korpisuo takes a step back to recover.
Arthanier misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fighters circling - Korpisuo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Arthanier throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Korpisuo.
Korpisuo shoots in and drives through. Arthanier sprawls well.
Arthanier avoids a punch combination nicely.
Korpisuo on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Arthanier lands with a cross.
Arthanier throws a lazy right hand but Korpisuo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Korpisuo moves out of range as Arthanier throws a body kick.
Arthanier throws a solid leg kick but Korpisuo takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Arthanier.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arthanier looks for the body kick but Korpisuo saw that one coming.
Arthanier misses with a left hand
and Korpisuo counters with a nice body shot.
Korpisuo tried to score with a low kick but Arthanier checks it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Arthanier lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Korpisuo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Korpisuo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Arthanier falls off balance throwing a combination
and Korpisuo counters with a stiff right hand.
Korpisuo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Arthanier.
Ramus Arthanier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Korpisuo takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Arthanier scores with a hook.
Korpisuo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Korpisuo moves out of range of the body kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Korpisuo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Arthanier throws a lazy right hand but Korpisuo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Arthanier throws a body kick that misses

and Korpisuo counters by moving into the clinch.
Korpisuo digs a right hand into Arthanier's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Arthanier's gas tank.
Arthanier has a couple of punches blocked by Korpisuo.
Arthanier tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Arthanier.
Korpisuo takes a shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Arthanier tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Korpisuo avoids it.
Arthanier landing knees to the body.
Arthanier stops a takedown attempt from Korpisuo.
Arthanier managing to block the knees to the body from Korpisuo.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Arthanier takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Arthanier is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Korpisuo is defending well for now.

Korpisuo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Arthanier can't fight it off and eventually Korpisuo manages to take the fight to the floor. Arthanier looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Arthanier trying to keep a closed guard but Korpisuo is proving a slippery customer.
Korpisuo with a flurry of punches that miss.
Korpisuo throws an elbow that misses. Arthanier uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Korpisuo's guard. Nice move by Arthanier!
Arthanier stays in close to Korpisuo's body and controls the position.

Korpisuo looking for a guillotine here but Arthanier defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Korpisuo is looking for a triangle but Arthanier pushes his legs off easily.
Arthanier has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Arthanier stopping the sweep attempt from Korpisuo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Arthanier is looking to stand up but Korpisuo won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramus Arthanier dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Arthanier is looking to slow Korpisuo down with leg kicks.
Arthanier lands an overhand right.
Arthanier chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Arthanier lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


Korpisuo is rocked!
Arthanier ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Korpisuo out cold! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ramus Arthanier!
Ramus Arthanier spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
