Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Terrence Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Royal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddy Royal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Terrence Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddy Royal!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leonard rushes Royal and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Royal is trying to pull guard but Leonard turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Royal looking to stall.
Royal tries to score a body lock takedown but Leonard shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Leonard pressing his opponent against the cage.

Leonard manages to break the clinch.
Royal scores with a kick to the midsection.
Royal lands a high kick!


It looks like Terrence Leonard has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Leonard drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Leonard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Leonard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Leonard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Leonard gets a double leg takedown into Royal's guard.
Royal is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Leonard engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Royal is trying to hold Leonard in close to prevent damage but Leonard has managed to pass into half guard.

Leonard is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Royal defends it well.
Leonard really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Leonard decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Royal lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Leonard moves into the clinch successfully.
Royal jumps guard but Leonard turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Terrence Leonard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddy Royal.
Royal tries to break the clinch but Leonard is controlling the position.
Royal is looking to break free of the clinch but Leonard has double underhooks.
Leonard blocks a body shot from Royal.
Royal can't break the clinch.

Leonard blocks an elbow strike from Royal.
Royal tries to score a body lock takedown but Leonard shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Royal jumps guard but Leonard stands there with Royal around his waist. Royal gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Royal looks winded!

Leonard gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Royal trying to keep a closed guard but Leonard is proving a slippery customer.
Leonard not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Leonard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Royal, up you get!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Leonard instigates a clinch.

Leonard has picked Royal up - he's going for a ride! Leonard dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Royal scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Leonard manages to mount him!

Leonard stands up from mount. Strange move.
Royal tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Leonard counters by clinching up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Leonard has Royal pressed against the cage.
Royal fails to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terrence Leonard dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Terrence Leonard's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Leonard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Leonard keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Royal is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Leonard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Leonard stops Royal from getting back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Terrence Leonard wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Royal tries to clinch but Leonard moves away
and Leonard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Royal lands a lovely overhand right.
Royal throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Eddy Royal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Royal is breathing heavily.

Leonard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Leonard lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Leonard decides to stand back up. Leonard steps back and let's Royal get back to his feet.
Eddy Royal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Royal misses with a looping right.

Royal gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Leonard is working Royal over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Leonard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A punch lands to the side of Leonard 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Leonard has taken the fight to the clinch.
Leonard stalling in the clinch.
Royal looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Leonard pulls guard successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Royal trying to control the position from guard on top but Leonard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Terrence Leonard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Leonard seems keen to control Royal's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Terrence Leonard wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Royal shoots and misses

and Leonard counters by clinching up.

Leonard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Leonard gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Come on Leonard - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Leonard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Leonard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Leonard shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Leonard stands up from half guard.

Leonard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Leonard gets to mount! Royal was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Leonard swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
