Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Royal Osborn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny James! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. James prevents Osborn from improving his position. Osborn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Osborn avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James. James is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
James missing with the ground and pound from half guard. James is taking a breather. Osborn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. James wants to work for an arm triangle but Osborn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Osborn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground. James is looking to advance position but Osborn won't allow it. James throwing shots but Osborn is blocking nicely.

James is thwarting Osborn's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James is pressing down on Osborn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Osborn is holding on for now. Osborn blocking the ground and pound attempt from James. Osborn wants to control but James is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Osborn. Osborn is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! James tries to bum rush Osborn with a series of wild strikes but Osborn uses good footwork to avoid the assault. James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. James decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Osborn gets caught napping as James dives in and scores a takedown. Osborn manages to retain guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Osborn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from James. James sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Osborn's guard. James missing with the ground and pound from half guard. James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Osborn wants to improve his position but James is controlling well.
James has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Osborn defend it? James steps over the head and cranks it - Osborn is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for James!
