Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leeroy Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hicks Carlin! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones gets caught napping as Carlin dives in and scores a takedown. Jones manages to retain guard. Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Carlin wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Hicks Carlin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Carlin moves into the clinch. Carlin pulls guard effortlessly. Carlin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Carlin keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Carlin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones forces his way into half guard. Carlin trying to control but Jones postures up.
Jones is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carlin wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlin is looking to escape. Carlin missing with punches from the bottom.
Jones is taking a breather. Carlin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Carlin is trying to maintain the position but Jones is very close to passing his half guard. Carlin wants to get back to full guard but Jones has mounted him! Carlin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time. Carlin is looking to get to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Carlin manages to avoid the submission attempt. Carlin is trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlin is trying to get back to half guard. Carlin wants to control but Jones postures up. Carlin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jones's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Jones wants to control but Carlin is keeping him busy. Carlin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Carlin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carlin wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hicks Carlin dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Jones tries to sprawl but Carlin drives through with a takedown into half guard. Jones is looking to improve his position.
Hicks Carlin has got the better of the ground game so far. Carlin wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy. Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Carlin is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now. Jones tries to get to full guard but Carlin has control of the leg. Jones won't allow Carlin to pass to mount.

Carlin is looking for a kimura but Jones is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Carlin to get the leverage. Jones regains full guard. Nicely done. Jones not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Carlin slips nicely into half guard. Carlin has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Jones works to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlin trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Carlin wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. Carlin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carlin trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Carlin wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. Jones keeping full guard, as Carlin tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlin is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jones holds on and takes a little breather.

Jones gets tackled into the cage by Carlin. Carlin maintains the clinch. Carlin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Carlin is in Jones's guard. Carlin trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Carlin advances to half guard. Jones is trying to control but can't.
Carlin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Carlin wants to stand up but Jones is controlling the position.
Carlin is breathing heavily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones moves into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carlin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hicks Carlin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Carlin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Carlin has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Jones to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Carlin is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Jones pulls down on the head and he's put Carlin to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Leeroy Jones!
