These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Makunouchi. That snapped Calliente's head back.
Makunouchi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so Calliente counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Calliente trying to control the position from guard on top but Makunouchi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Calliente postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Makunouchi controls Calliente momentarily but Calliente frees himself.
Calliente wants to control from the top but Makunouchi keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vincenzo Calliente just wasn't active enough.
Good standup being displayed there by Makunouchi as he connects with a hook.
Makunouchi lands a two punch combo.
Calliente avoids a punch combination nicely.

Makunouchi connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Calliente! He's out on his feet! Makunouchi rushes in and drops Calliente with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
