Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Merlin Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Merlin Charles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trevor Kennedy! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kennedy rushes Charles and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kennedy stalling the fight.
Kennedy is trying to pull guard but Charles turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Charles breaks the clinch.
Trevor Kennedy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Charles with a lazy takedown attempt so Kennedy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kennedy tries to free his leg and advance position but Charles is retaining full guard. Kennedy sitting in guard, not really doing much. Charles is pulling down on Kennedy's head to control his posture. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kennedy working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Charles is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Charles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Merlin Charles has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Kennedy throws a combination that misses and Charles counters with a three punch combo that has Kennedy backing up. Kennedy nods at Charles to acknowledge the strikes. Charles misses with a takedown attempt and Kennedy counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Charles! A lull in the action here as Kennedy stalls from top position. Charles wants to control but Kennedy postures up. Charles is trying to escape the position but Kennedy is controlling the position. Kennedy is looking to take a break and control but Charles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Charles can't do much from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kennedy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kennedy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kennedy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Charles to his feet. Charles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kennedy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Charles somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Merlin Charles. That's going to take a lot out of him. Charles shoots in but Kennedy avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kennedy misses with a double jab
and Charles counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Charles dives in and grabs Kennedy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kennedy pushes down on Charles's head and hops out. Kennedy throws a right hand that Charles ducks under and follows up with a left that Charles also avoids with ease. Charles plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Charles clinches up against the cage. Kennedy is leaning against Charles and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Charles is breathing heavily. Kennedy makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Charles tries to break the clinch but Kennedy is controlling the position. Kennedy tries to pull guard but Charles won't allow it.

Kennedy lands a takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Charles thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Kennedy looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kennedy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Kennedy throws a leg kick and Charles counters with a nice body kick.

Kennedy throws a punch but it's blocked by Charles. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kennedy has a couple of punches blocked by Charles.

Charles wants to get back to striking at distance but Kennedy won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Trevor Kennedy dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Charles takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Kennedy moves out of range as Charles throws a body kick.
Charles changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kennedy tries to avoid it but Charles manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kennedy to the ground. Kennedy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Charles with a poor takedown and Kennedy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Charles's guard. Charles working a defensive guard but Kennedy manages to pass into side control anyway.
Trevor Kennedy has got the better of the ground game so far. Kennedy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Charles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kennedy pinned against the cage. Kennedy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Merlin Charles. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kennedy forces Charles back against the cage and clinches. Kennedy tries to land a knee to the head but Charles blocks with his arms.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kennedy lands a good knee to the midsection. Charles won't want to take too many of those. Kennedy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kennedy misses with a straight right. Charles takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Kennedy swings for the body but Charles moves out of range.
A big left from Kennedy misses. Kennedy throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Charles misses with a takedown attempt and Kennedy counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kennedy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Charles on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kennedy in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kennedy moves into full mount! Charles won't be happy about that! Kennedy is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Charles to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Charles shrugs it off. Kennedy controlling from the full mount. Kennedy is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Charles can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kennedy is landing with some decent strikes but Charles is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Charles is rocked! Kennedy loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Charles scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Kennedy land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Kennedy stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trevor Kennedy! Trevor Kennedy was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
