2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Photo! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Photo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stabdagger but Stabdagger pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stabdagger shoots and misses so Photo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Photo drops back looking for a leg! Stabdagger is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stabdagger manages to kick Photo off! Photo jumps back into Stabdagger's guard. Photo trying to control but Stabdagger is working from the bottom. Stabdagger controlling Photo's posture. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Photo wants to control from the top but Stabdagger keeps moving. Stabdagger looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Stabdagger tries to strike from the bottom.
Photo wants to control from the top but Stabdagger keeps moving. Photo pushes down on Stabdagger's leg and manages to get into half guard. Photo wants to take a breather but Stabdagger is having none of it. Photo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Stabdagger shoots and misses and Photo counters with a single leg into guard. Stabdagger didn't expect that. Photo wants to stand but Stabdagger is controlling his posture from full guard. Stabdagger trying to keep a closed guard but Photo is proving a slippery customer.

Stabdagger strikes from his own guard. Stabdagger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Stabdagger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Photo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Stabdagger scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Photo wants to improve his position but Stabdagger is controlling well.
Nice strikes from Stabdagger there. Photo tries to roll over but Stabdagger keeps him under control. Stabdagger is trying to control the action in half guard but Photo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Stabdagger lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Photo wants to improve his position but Stabdagger is controlling well.
Photo looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stabdagger has his takedown stuffed and Photo moves into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Colin Stabdagger. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stabdagger stops a takedown attempt from Photo.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Stabdagger changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Photo fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Stabdagger looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Photo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Stabdagger is breathing heavily. Stabdagger is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Photo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Photo avoids the attempt from Stabdagger to control. Photo tries to control but Stabdagger wriggling away. Stabdagger is wriggling around trying to escape.
Photo has control of Stabdagger's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stabdagger regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Photo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stabdagger tries to hold on but Photo pushes him away. Photo working for a submission but Stabdagger is keeping him at bay. Stabdagger is desperately trying to improve his position but Photo has a good base and remains in mount. Stabdagger is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Stabdagger is looking to improve his position but Photo isn't that keen on the idea. Stabdagger tries to hold on but Photo pushes him away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stabdagger can't escape the position.
Photo tries to control but Stabdagger wriggling away. Stabdagger is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Nice takedown defense from Stabdagger. No joy for Photo on that attempt. Stabdagger misses with a takedown and Photo counters with a takedown into side control. Stabdagger is looking for a sweep. Photo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stabdagger some visible discomfort.
Photo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Photo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stabdagger has escaped the position, nice work there. Stabdagger gets back to half guard. Photo is breathing heavily. Stabdagger punching from the bottom.
Photo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Stabdagger misses with a takedown attempt and Photo counters with a single leg into guard. Stabdagger didn't expect that. Stabdagger is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Photo rolls with it to try and escape but Stabdagger cranks on the arm and Photo is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
