PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sean Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timy Tiger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiger is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX - Intro (Hell yeah). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Timy Tiger!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiger takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Richards gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Tiger jumps into guard, dragging Richards to the mat.
Tiger pulls Richards in close to his closed guard and prevents Richards from doing any damage or advancing position.
Tiger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Richards is one step ahead there.
Tiger trying to control the position here.
Let's hope that Tiger has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Timy Tiger has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Richards moves into the clinch.
Richards has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Richards pushes Tiger back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Tiger drags the fight down to the ground.
Tiger keeping moving, preventing Richards from controlling successfully.
Tiger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Richards is one step ahead there.
Tiger wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Richards trying to control but Tiger is working from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Richards with a flurry of punches that miss.
Richards pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tiger is keeping the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Richards wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Tiger checks a low kick from Richards.
Richards tests Tiger's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Richards ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tiger misses the jab.
Tiger bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Richards misses the jab.
Tiger avoids the body shot from Richards.
Sean Richards is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tiger cracks Richards with a good jab.
Tiger paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tiger closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tiger is pressing down on Richards's thigh, looking to free his foot. Richards is holding on for now.
Richards is looking to control Tiger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Richards avoid being mounted?
Richards tries to roll over but Tiger keeps him under control.
Tiger is keen to just control but Richards is a slippery customer.
Tiger is stalling here. Richards is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Tiger seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Richards has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Richards trying to control the position but Tiger is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tiger tries to improve position but can't.
Tiger is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Richards's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Tiger tries to get to full guard but Richards has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tiger keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Richards trying to control from half guard but Tiger is working away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tiger keeping hold of Richards's head, controlling as best he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sean Richards wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Tiger blocks the body kick.
Tiger ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Richards blocks a jab.
Tiger sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Tiger swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Richards counters by moving into the clinch.
Tiger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Richards is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Richards misses with a punch to the body.
Richards is working Tiger over against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tiger jumps guard but Richards stands there with Tiger around his waist. Tiger gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tiger tries for a takedown. No joy.
Sean Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timy Tiger.

Tiger is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Richards can't fight it off and eventually Tiger manages to take the fight to the floor. Richards looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Richards wants to stand and escape but Tiger is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timy Tiger dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tiger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Richards looks for the body kick but Tiger saw that one coming.
Richards misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tiger takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tiger lands with a good body shot.
Tiger connects with a body shot that sends Richards's belly button to the back.
Tiger jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice defenses there by Richards.
Richards throws a shot from downtown. Tiger moves away and avoids it.

Richards moves into the clinch.
Richards throws a punch but it's blocked by Tiger.
Tiger is trying to pull guard but Richards has him pressed against the cage.
Tiger tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Richards smiles and moves away.
Richards throws a jab when Tiger was well out of range.
Richards throws a looping overhand right but Tiger ducks down to avoid it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tiger keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Richards.
Tiger slips under a jab.
Richards's corner calls for a 1-2. Richards obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Richards avoids the body shot from Tiger.

Richards drives through and clinches with Tiger against the cage.
Tiger is trying to drag Richards to the mat but Richards just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sean Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timy Tiger.

Richards is fighting off a takedown attempt but Tiger is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Richards to the mat. Richards regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Tiger cracks Richards with a solid left hand.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Tiger working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Tiger looking to sit in guard and control but Richards gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Tiger is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tiger manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Richards wants to hold on but Tiger pushes him away.
Tiger fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like Sean Richards has been cut.
Tiger postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Richards looks a forlorn figure.


Richards is rocked!


Sean Richards's cut is getting worse.
Tiger postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Richards is out cold - huge knockout for Tiger!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Timy Tiger!
A very excited looking Timy Tiger rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
