PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Cojones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes into the arena with Ironfist blaring out of the sound system. Cojones has chosen Pearl Jam - Do The Evolution as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Magnus Scott is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Magnus Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pablo Cojones!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a takedown attempt

and Cojones counters with a shoot takedown. Scott fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cojones throwing strikes from guard but Scott blocks nicely.
Scott wants to sweep here but Cojones controlling him for the moment.
Scott preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cojones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Scott seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Cojones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Scott is pulling down on Cojones's head. It's preventing any offense from Cojones, at least for the moment.

Cojones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Scott is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Scott tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cojones swivels and escapes.

Cojones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Scott is trying to control but can't.

The fighters are battling for position here. Scott manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Scott is on top in guard.
Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Scott drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cojones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Scott has Cojones in his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cojones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cojones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Scott is proving hard to escape from.
Scott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cojones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Cojones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scott did well to prevent Cojones getting side control.

Cojones is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Scott as he works his way to full guard.
Scott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cojones is one step ahead there.
Cojones tries to free his leg and advance position but Scott is retaining full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Scott escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cojones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Scott closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Cojones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Cojones has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Scott works to full guard.

Scott manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Cojones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cojones is squirming around, avoiding Scott's attempts to control the action.

Cojones tries to reverse the position but Scott maintains control.

Scott wants to control the pace but Cojones is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scott is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cojones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Magnus Scott wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cojones wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Scott uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cojones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Scott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cojones throws a strike but Scott rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Scott drops back looking for a leg! Cojones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cojones manages to kick Scott off! Scott jumps back into Cojones's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Magnus Scott.
I think Scott has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
