Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chance Watkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Laster Gunner! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Damien Edna and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunner misses with a two punch combination.
Gunner tries to clinch but Watkins moves out of range. Gunner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Watkins sprawls well. Watkins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunner gets slowly back to his feet. Gunner pushes Watkins up against the cage in a clinch. Watkins manages to pull guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Watkins is looking for a triangle but Gunner pushes his legs off easily.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Watkins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Watkins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Gunner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Watkins dives on top into guard. Watkins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gunner manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Watkins manages to get himself to full guard.
Watkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gunner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gunner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watkins swivels though and keeps the full guard. Watkins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gunner has passed into side control.
Gunner goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Watkins has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gunner but great work by Watkins. Watkins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gunner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Watkins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Gunner is not content to let Watkins control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gunner is looking for a sweep. Watkins trying to control the action but Gunner is working from the bottom. Watkins decides to stand back up. Watkins steps back and let's Gunner get back to his feet. Watkins keeps the fight on the outside. Gunner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chance Watkins. Watkins circles away from the clinch attempt and Watkins counters with a lovely straight right hand! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chance Watkins will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gunner walks away with a smile on his face. Watkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gunner throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gunner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Watkins sprawls well. Watkins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunner gets slowly back to his feet. Chance Watkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Laster Gunner. Gunner drives through and clinches with Watkins against the cage.

Gunner might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Watkins haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Watkins is on top in guard.

Gunner controls Watkins momentarily but Watkins frees himself. Gunner is breathing heavily.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Laster Gunner hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Gunner throws a sloppy head kick and Watkins moves out of range easily. Gunner looks to land a body kick but Watkins moved away. Gunner doesn't succeed with the takedown and Watkins counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Watkins tries to pull guard but Gunner won't allow it.

Gunner jumps guard but Watkins stands there with Gunner around his waist. Gunner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Watkins as Gunner tries to tie him up. Watkins decides to pull guard. Watkins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gunner defends well. Watkins is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gunner is aware though and is defending well. Watkins lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gunner! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gunner tries to hold on but Watkins postures up. Watkins working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. And that's the end of the fight! Chance Watkins showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Watkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
