Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Mattize Grovinsky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Howell! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Chris Dean and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Howell catches Grovinsky with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Howell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Grovinsky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Howell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Howell cracks Grovinsky with a good jab. Grovinsky looks to clinch and Howell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Grovinsky clinches up with Howell and pushes him back against the cage. Grovinsky working aggressively here.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grovinsky tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Howell's elbow. Grovinsky has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Howell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Grovinsky tries to clinch up enabling Howell to counter with a crisp jab. Howell has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Grovinsky is landing a low percentage of strikes. Howell is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Grovinsky had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Howell has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Grovinsky. Howell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Grovinsky looks to clinch and Howell counters with a straight right hand. Grovinsky closes the distance but Howell moves to the side and Howell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Howell circles away from the clinch attempt and Howell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Grovinsky walks into a left hand. Howell pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Grovinsky back to the cage. Howell follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Grovinsky is rocked! Howell might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Howell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Howell lands a nice shot that snaps Grovinsky's head back.
Oh Grovinsky is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Grovinsky wants to clinch up but Howell keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grovinsky is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Howell throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Grovinsky looks to clinch and Howell counters with a nice uppercut. Grovinsky wants to clinch and Howell counters with a straight right hand. Grovinsky tries to clinch but fails miserably and Howell scores with a counter punch that sends Grovinsky to the canvas! Howell smells blood - he's punishing Grovinsky with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Grovinsky has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
