The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De La Rosa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tevis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De La Rosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tevis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De La Rosa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De La Rosa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

De La Rosa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tevis defends it well.
Tevis is trying to maintain the position but De La Rosa is very close to passing his half guard.
Tevis looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De La Rosa is pressing down on Tevis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tevis is holding on for now.

Tevis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De La Rosa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De La Rosa's back!

Tevis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for De La Rosa!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tevis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. De La Rosa looks a forlorn figure.

De La Rosa misses with a takedown attempt - Tevis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tevis tries to clinch but De La Rosa moves out of range.
