Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe De La Rosa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oltsi Tevis! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De La Rosa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tevis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De La Rosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. De La Rosa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tevis is keeping the position for now. De La Rosa preventing the sweep. Tevis trying to control the position.
Tevis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De La Rosa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De La Rosa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. De La Rosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Tevis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. De La Rosa pushes down on Tevis's leg and manages to get into half guard. De La Rosa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tevis defends it well. Tevis is trying to maintain the position but De La Rosa is very close to passing his half guard. Tevis looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De La Rosa is pressing down on Tevis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tevis is holding on for now. Tevis looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tevis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De La Rosa's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De La Rosa's back! De La Rosa avoids the strikes from Tevis. De La Rosa turns into Tevis and is now in his guard.
De La Rosa wants to control from the top but Tevis keeps moving. Tevis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for De La Rosa! De La Rosa tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tevis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. De La Rosa looks a forlorn figure.
Tevis prevents De La Rosa from getting the reversal. Tevis working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De La Rosa manages to regain half guard. Good work. De La Rosa wants to control but Tevis is keeping busy and won't allow it. Tevis seems to be looking for submissions.

Tevis is keen to just control but De La Rosa is a slippery customer. Tevis is working for a kimura but De La Rosa is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. De La Rosa kicks off Tevis and gets to his feet. De La Rosa misses with a takedown attempt - Tevis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Tevis tries to clinch but De La Rosa moves out of range. De La Rosa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. De La Rosa passes Tevis's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De La Rosa seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Tevis is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
