Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alou Matar!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcfarland with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Matar fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mcfarland to the ground. Matar is now in Mcfarland's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Matar controls from within his opponent's guard.
Mcfarland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Alou Matar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Matar tries to clinch up but Mcfarland circles away and keeps his distance.
Mcfarland ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Mcfarland slaps away a takedown attempt from Matar, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Mcfarland throws a body punch but Matar moves out of range.
Mcfarland fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Matar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mcfarland gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dana Mcfarland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alou Matar.

Matar manages to break the clinch.
Matar darts in looking for a takedown but Mcfarland gets double underhooks and turns Matar into the cage.

Matar turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Mcfarland tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcfarland is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Matar asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Matar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcfarland keeps working.
Mcfarland is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Matar has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mcfarland manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matar can do anything to dispel that myth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mcfarland drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Matar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mcfarland has Matar in his guard.

Mcfarland is looking to stand up but Matar isn't so interested in that idea.

Mcfarland thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Matar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Matar won't allow Mcfarland to sweep him here.

Matar drives through and clinches with Mcfarland against the cage.

Matar gets control of Mcfarland's arms and successfully pulls guard. Matar will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mcfarland wants to get back to his feet but Matar drags him back down.
Matar is looking to take a break and control but Mcfarland is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mcfarland throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Mcfarland looks to move to half guard but instead Matar has passed into mount! Damn!
Matar lands a couple of good shots and Mcfarland has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Mcfarland is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Matar gets his way!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Matar is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mcfarland is defending well though. Matar let's go of the attempt for now.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mcfarland manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Matar keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mcfarland drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Matar gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Matar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Matar darts in and clinches Mcfarland up against the cage.

Matar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mcfarland clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Mcfarland is trying to get back to his feet but Matar has full control of the position and if anything, Mcfarland has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Mcfarland is covering up but some of the strikes from Matar are getting through and doing damage.
Matar biding his time, looking for the opening.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Matar is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mcfarland with him. Mcfarland is trying to defend but Matar has an arm under the chin now! Mcfarland grimaces and is forced to tap out!
