Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirk Pitt!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with a head kick.

James has closed the distance and engaged Pitt in a clinch.
Pitt takes a shot to the head.

Pitt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James ducks under a wild hook from Pitt.
James tries to clinch up but Pitt circles away and keeps his distance.
James throws a right hand that Pitt ducks under and follows up with a left that Pitt also avoids with ease.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James slips a jab from Pitt.
Pitt slips a jab from James.
The fighters circling - James throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
James misses with a few strikes there.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Pitt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pitt throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pitt moves away.
Pitt throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by James.
James misses with a straight left.
We've been told by James's head coaches at Restricted area that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
James connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Pitt thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on James if he has to take too many more of those.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pitt.
A lazy body kick from Pitt
and James counters with a nice body shot.
Pitt tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pitt loads up on a big right hand but James slips the punch.
Pitt with a hook.
James throws a lazy head kick
and Pitt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
James throws a push kick but Pitt slaps the foot to one side.
James on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pitt. Pitt obviously looking to wear him down.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pitt checks a leg kick.
James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pitt dodges the punch combination from James.
Pitt listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Pitt throws a leg kick but James moved away.
James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pitt.
A punch combination from Pitt misses.
James slips under a jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
James tries to clinch there but Pitt circles away.
James slips under a jab from Pitt.
James misses with a looping left.
James scores with a crisp jab that stopped Pitt in his tracks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by James.
Pitt throws a head kick that misses.
Pitt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pitt swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pitt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Pitt throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily.
James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pitt misses with a wild body shot.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Pitt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A head kick misses from Pitt.
Pitt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James looks to land a combination but Pitt avoids it well.
Pitt misses with a head kick.

Pitt takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


Pitt is rocked!


It looks like Dirk Pitt has been cut.
Pitt takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Pitt is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
Pitt looks winded!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James rushes Pitt and presses him up against the cage.
James throws a big uppercut that drops Pitt! More strikes from James and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Pitt lies dazed against the cage as James celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick James!
Rick James was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
