The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laser looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Laser feints and then cracks Smith's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smith down.

and Smith counters with a head kick. That will keep Laser thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Laser misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Smith counters with a big head kick but Laser shrugs it off.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Laser looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Laser working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Laser is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Laser uses his free foot to push down on Smith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Smith.
Smith is looking to get to half guard.
Laser has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Laser drops a big elbow. That's hurt Smith! More shots from Laser and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
