PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Napoleon Bonapart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimon Boets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boets has chosen Штиль as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Napoleon Bonapart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 21 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dimon Boets!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boets is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Napoleon Bonapart has been cut.
Bonapart misses with a low kick.
Nice sprawl there from Bonapart as Boets shoots in.
Boets shoots in but no luck this time.

A head kick lands from Bonapart that sends Boets to the canvas. Boets tries to scramble back to his feet but Bonapart brings him back down into side control.


It looks like Dimon Boets has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bonapart working away.

Bonapart looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Bonapart is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Boets knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Boets manages to get back to half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Boets manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Boets looking for a guillotine here but Bonapart defends easily.

Boets working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bonapart doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bonapart manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bonapart wants to stand but Boets is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bonapart sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boets's guard.

Bonapart working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bonapart is keen to just control but Boets is a slippery customer.
Boets pushes Bonapart off looking to stand but Bonapart dives back in and keeps control.

Bonapart trying to stand up but can't free himself from Boets's guard.

Boets tries to buck Bonapart off but Bonapart is having none of it.
Bonapart creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Boets fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boets lands a nice shot to the body.
Boets has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Napoleon Bonapart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boets ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Boets drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Boets postures up in Bonapart's guard and throws a big left but Bonapart blocks it.
Boets missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Boets distracts Bonapart with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bonapart is on top in guard.

Boets thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Bonapart controls from within his opponent's guard.

Boets is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bonapart is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bonapart's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dimon Boets showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Boets is trying to push Bonapart away but Bonapart has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A frustrated look appears on Boets's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bonapart throws a left and a right that both miss
and Boets connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bonapart uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Boets.
Boets misses with a body shot.
Bonapart missing with a left hand there. Boets was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bonapart scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Bonapart swinging wildly here.
Bonapart bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Boets dives in for a single leg takedown but Bonapart sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bonapart wants to control from the top but Boets keeps moving.
Boets wants to hit a switch here but Bonapart passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Boets there!

Bonapart goes for an armbar but Boets turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Boets.

Boets throws a big elbow that misses.
Boets wants to control from the top but Bonapart keeps moving.

Bonapart working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Boets.
Boets stands up over Bonapart, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bonapart looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boets is one step ahead there.
Bonapart is adopting a defensive guard.
Boets loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boets trying to control but Bonapart is working from the bottom.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Boets gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boets is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Boets content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Boets drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bonapart gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Boets is pushing Bonapart up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The crowd are getting on Boets's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Boets is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bonapart can't fight it off and eventually Boets manages to take the fight to the floor. Bonapart looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dimon Boets comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Boets has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
