These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barthalamew Von Falkenberg!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander scores with a nice strike.
Von Falkenberg looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Von Falkenberg shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Von Falkenberg showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Alexander controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Alexander works his way to full guard. Good work.
Von Falkenberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Alexander looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Von Falkenberg puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Alexander seems keen to control Von Falkenberg's posture.

Von Falkenberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alexander swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alexander seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Alfred Alexander wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Alexander gets caught flat footed, as Von Falkenberg shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alexander might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Von Falkenberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Alexander is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Alexander has his hands on Von Falkenberg's head, controlling the position.

Alexander has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Von Falkenberg is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Alexander jumps guard but Von Falkenberg stands there with Alexander around his waist. Alexander gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Alexander jumps into guard, dragging Von Falkenberg to the mat.

Alexander wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Alexander has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alexander manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Von Falkenberg manages to get himself to full guard.
Alexander is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Von Falkenberg wants to control the position but Alexander says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Alexander in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Von Falkenberg tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Alexander!
