Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Leer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Fertus!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leer shoots in looking for a takedown but Fertus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Leer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Leer doesn't manage to clinch there - Fertus circles away.
Leer throws a sloppy head kick
and Leer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Fertus clinches up against the cage.
Fertus is pushing Leer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Fertus escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Leer has his takedown stuffed
and Fertus counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Mike Leer has been cut.
Leer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Leer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leer misses with a takedown
and Fertus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fertus looks to land a right hand but Leer moved out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Leer tries to close the distance and clinch but Fertus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fertus lunges at Leer with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Leer's hand.
Fertus throws a monster overhand right that drops Leer! Fertus follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Fertus!
Mike Fertus decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
