Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankestein Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Fenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir's entrance music is SURF RIDER!!! by The lively ones!. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Fenix!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fenix misses with a right hand
and Mir connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mir looks to land a combination. Fenix sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mir misses with a low kick as Fenix jumps back.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fenix enables Mir to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fenix manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mir postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mir wants to control from the top but Fenix keeps moving.
Mir sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fenix's guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Mir's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mir tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fenix knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fenix wants to improve his position but Mir is controlling well.

Mir is pressing down on Fenix's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fenix is holding on for now.
Fenix moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Mir advances position into side control!

Mir goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Fenix has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mir but great work by Fenix.

Fenix throws an elbow but Mir slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mir avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Fenix.

Mir is trying to control Fenix's posture but Fenix avoids it.
Fenix tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Mir manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fenix's best efforts.
Fenix works his way into full mount!

Mir is looking for a sweep. Fenix is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fenix is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mir might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
BOOM! Fenix connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Fenix lands a heavy elbow.
Mir is squirming around, avoiding Fenix's attempts to control the action.

Fenix lands with a punch from half guard.
Mir manages to get to full guard.
Fenix works over Mir with some ground and pound from guard.
Mir looking for a sweep. Not yet Mir, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fenix avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fenix controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fenix postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fenix trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mir avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Fenix must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fenix passes Mir's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Fenix dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Fenix wants to slow Mir down by chopping away at his legs.
Marcus Fenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Mir misses with a low kick.
Fenix thows a body shot but no joy.
Mir throws a body punch but Fenix moves out of range.
Mir fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fenix manages to avoid it.
Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mir fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fenix avoids it really well and circles away.
Fenix lands a jab to the nose.
Mir moves out of range of the body kick from Fenix.
Mir on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Fenix throws a front kick aimed at Mir's knee but Mir avoids it well.
Mir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mir takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Horrible takedown by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by Fenix which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankestein Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fenix throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fenix clobbers Mir with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Fenix walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Mir checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Mir fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fenix looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fenix defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mir.
Fenix scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Frankestein Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fenix manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mir is sitting in close to Fenix's body. Fenix has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mir is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mir is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fenix.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Marcus Fenix!
