Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rudy Pu! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pu jabs Sanchez right on the nose. Sanchez blinks but takes it well. Pu lands a glancing blow to the side of Sanchez's head. Pu missing with a left hand there. Sanchez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Pu misses with a body shot.
Pu throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Sloppy strikes from Sanchez. Those never looked like landing. Sanchez tries to keep at a distance but Pu has taken the fight into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez working hard to break the clinch. A nice left hand lands by Pu.
Pu lands on the inside with an uppercut. Sanchez swings wildly with an uppercut but Pu uses good head movement to avoid it. Sanchez stalling in the clinch but Pu improves position. Sanchez lands on the inside with an uppercut. A frustrated look appears on Sanchez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Sanchez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sanchez is looking to break free of the clinch but Pu has double underhooks. Pu has Sanchez pushed against the cage. Pu lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Sanchez using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pu has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez has had enough of the clinch but Pu keeps him there for the moment. Pu lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. A head punch on the inside from Sanchez fails to land. Pu cracks Sanchez with a nice body shot. Sanchez tries to break the clinch but Pu is controlling the position. Sanchez is trying to force a seperation but Pu has the dominant position. Sanchez goes for a takedown attempt but Pu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sanchez is breathing heavily. Sanchez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pu lands a jab to Sanchez's midsection. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pu lands a right hook to the body.
Pu slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Pu digs a good body shot into Sanchez's ribs. Sanchez on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Chris Sanchez has been cut. Pu throws an overhand right that drops Sanchez like a sack of potatoes! Pu dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rudy Pu! Rudy Pu decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
