Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tre Mar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cletus Simmons has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cletus Simmons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tre Mar! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Simmons.
Mar gets a clinch. Mar decides to pull guard. Mar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Simmons! Simmons's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Mar wants to control the pace but Simmons is squirming around nicely. Mar controlling from the full mount. It looks like Mar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons gets back to half guard. Mar is stalling here. Simmons is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mar seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Simmons has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Simmons will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Simmons decides to stand back up. Simmons steps back and let's Mar get back to his feet. Mar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Simmons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mar closes the distance looking to clinch and Simmons counters with a nice leg kick. Mar tries to clinch but Simmons moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mar clinches up against the cage. A short uppercut from Mar. Mar has picked Simmons up - he's going for a ride! Mar dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Simmons is holding on to half guard well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simmons is trying to maintain the position but Mar is very close to passing his half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mar is looking to advance position but Simmons won't allow it. Simmons is controlling Mar's position as best he can from this difficult position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mar missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Mar wants to control but Simmons is keeping him busy.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mar tries to clinch up and Simmons counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mar tries to roll over but Simmons keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mar has a hand on Simmons's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Simmons takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Mar tries to lock up and control but Simmons gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mar is trying to escape the mount.
Mar is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Simmons lands a couple of good shots and Mar has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Simmons is persistently looking for the submission but Mar is defending it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mar wants to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cletus Simmons will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Mar fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Simmons to the ground. Mar is now in Simmons's guard. Simmons has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mar looking to sit in guard and control but Simmons gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mar trying to keep a closed guard but Simmons is proving a slippery customer.
Simmons in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mar is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mar is trying to hold Simmons in close to prevent damage but Simmons has managed to pass into half guard.
Mar wants to get back to full guard but Simmons has mounted him! Mar tries to hold on but Simmons postures up. Mar tries to get back to half guard but can't. Simmons landing strikes from the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mar sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Mar is looking to improve his position.
Cletus Simmons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Simmons prevents Mar from standing back up.
Mar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simmons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mar is breathing heavily. Simmons not landing any meaningful shots this time. Simmons scoring with strikes to the body and head. Mar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Simmons.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simmons not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Simmons working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Mar tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Simmons manages to move to mount!
A nice elbow there by Simmons. Simmons working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Mar turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Simmons off and cradles Mar's limp body as Simmons celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Cletus Simmons!
