Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimura comes to the cage accompanied by Seek and Destroy . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura throws a right hand that misses
and Barnett counters with a crisp one two that drops Kimura! Barnett thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Kimura to his feet! Kimura is in big trouble!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kimura swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kimura closes the distance looking to clinch
and Barnett counters with an inside leg kick.
Kimura moves to clinch but Barnett breaks away
and Barnett counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kimura shoots and misses
and Barnett counters with a crisp one two that drops Kimura! Barnett thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Kimura to his feet! Kimura is in big trouble!
Barnett clinches with his opponent.
Kimura swings wildly with an uppercut but Barnett uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barnett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kimura throws a lazy uppercut
and Barnett counters with a left to the body.
Barnett throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kimura is breathing heavily.
Barnett works the jab nicely.
Kimura fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kimura throws the left hand but Barnett avoids the punch easily.
We've been hearing reports that Kimura has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Barnett shoots in and gets a takedown into Kimura's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kimura can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barnett controls the pace.
Barnett drops back looking for a leg! Kimura is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kimura manages to kick Barnett off! Barnett jumps back into Kimura's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kimura looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnett is one step ahead there.
Kimura looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Barnett has picked Kimura up and slammed him! Kimura can't keep hold of the triangle and Barnett manages to pass to side control!

Barnett lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kimura down.
Kimura tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Barnett wants to control but Kimura is keeping him busy.

Barnett creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Kimura gets back to half guard.
Barnett prevents Kimura from improving his position.
Barnett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Barnett winds up and cracks Kimura with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Barnett is looking to advance position but Kimura won't allow it.
Kimura tries to roll over but Barnett keeps him under control.

Barnett lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Barnett has hold of Kimura's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kimura manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Barnett controlling the position easily from mount.
Kimura is in a horrible position here. Barnett smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kimura is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kimura is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Barnett cracks Kimura with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

After winning the bout, Josh Barnett thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
