Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mick Helm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Mick Helm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Helm.
Nelson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Helm misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Helm fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Helm closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Helm is looking to take a break and control but Nelson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Helm is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Helm decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Helm shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mick Helm. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nelson fails with the takedown.

and Nelson counters with a series of strikes. Helm will be more careful next time no doubt.

Helm throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Helm off to one side.

Helm shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Helm thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Helm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nelson keeping moving, preventing Helm from controlling successfully.
Nelson is looking to stand up but Helm isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Helm closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Helm is looking for a kimura but Nelson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Helm to get the leverage.
Nelson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Helm not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nelson is refusing to be controlled, as Helm sits in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Helm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nelson is just riding it out for now. Helm eventually gives up the hold.

Nelson is looking for a sweep. Helm is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Helm is keen to just control but Nelson is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Helm tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nelson swivels and escapes.
Nelson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nelson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Helm's waist but Helm gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nelson off to one side.

Nelson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Helm is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Nelson wants a takedown but no success here.

Helm drags the fight down to the ground.
Nelson stopping the sweep attempt from Helm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mick Helm dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Nelson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nelson is just content to waste time from the top position. Helm takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Helm has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Helm escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Helm has a closed guard, preventing Nelson from standing up.

Helm is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Helm wants to sweep but no luck.
Helm is working hard here to advance position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Helm will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Helm looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nelson!

Helm moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nelson has worked his arm free - good work by Nelson!
The ground and pound from Helm seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Nelson is not content to let Helm control the position.
Nelson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nelson tries to lock up and control but Helm gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Helm with shots to the head and body - Nelson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Helm trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mick Helm overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Helm goes for an armbar but Nelson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Nelson.
Helm is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Helm looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Helm is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Helm working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Helm has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nelson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Helm has tightened it up now! Nelson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
