Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cesar James The Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boyd McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire has chosen Five Finger Death Punch - The Way Of The Fist as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Boyd McGuire enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cesar James The Reaper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Boyd McGuire!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGuire closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McGuire lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McGuire trying to control but The Reaper is working from the bottom.
McGuire looking to pass the guard.
McGuire pushes down on The Reaper's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McGuire is looking to take a break and control but The Reaper is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The Reaper blocking the ground and pound attempt from McGuire.

McGuire has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Team Skaggs Training Facility *LOP*. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

McGuire is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The Reaper pushes McGuire off and gets back to his feet.
McGuire wants to clinch up but The Reaper keeps it at a distance.
The Reaper keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
The Reaper has been working on his boxing with his coaches at ELITE GYM 40CAP in the buildup to the fight.
The Reaper moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cesar James The Reaper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Reaper takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

McGuire swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McGuire misses with a hook.
The Reaper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McGuire throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
McGuire fails in his attempt to clinch.

The Reaper dips to his left and cracks McGuire with an uppercut!
Cesar James The Reaper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jab, jab by The Reaper - just one landing.
McGuire lands with a slapping head kick.
McGuire takes a swing at The Reaper's ribcage but misses.
The Reaper misses with a few strikes there.
The Reaper lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
McGuire has a takedown stuffed.
McGuire shoots in but no luck this time.
The Reaper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The Reaper cracks McGuire with an open hand slap.
The Reaper swinging wildly here.
The Reaper throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McGuire tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and The Reaper is able to avoid easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuire shoots in looking for a takedown. The Reaper tries to sprawl out of it but McGuire keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Reaper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cesar James The Reaper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boyd McGuire.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as The Reaper checks a leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The Reaper throws a series of punches but McGuire avoids them all with ease.
The Reaper moves out of range as McGuire strikes.
The Reaper feints a jab promting McGuire to slip. The Reaper then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McGuire slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McGuire, as that shot connected.
The Reaper slips a jab from McGuire.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGuire moves out of range as The Reaper strikes.
The Reaper scores with a crisp jab that stopped McGuire in his tracks.
The Reaper throws a leg kick
and The Reaper takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The Reaper stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Boyd McGuire will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McGuire moves out of range as The Reaper throws a body kick.
McGuire lands a nice looking kick to the body. The Reaper takes a step back to recover.
Cesar James The Reaper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Good shot there by McGuire.
McGuire is looking to slow The Reaper down with leg kicks.
Nice body punch from The Reaper.
A clash of legs there as McGuire blocks the low kick.

McGuire forces The Reaper back against the cage and clinches.
The Reaper struggles to land a body shot inside as McGuire controls his hands.
McGuire lands with a short shot to the head.
McGuire lands a left hand.
The Reaper tries to circle away but McGuire has him pinned against the cage.
The Reaper working hard to break the clinch.
McGuire goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
McGuire lands with a short head shot on the inside.
The Reaper tries a body shot but McGuire blocks it.
The Reaper misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A short uppercut from McGuire.
The Reaper is trying to force a seperation but McGuire has the dominant position.

The Reaper breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The Reaper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A swing and a miss from McGuire.
The Reaper fails to land with a series of punches.
The Reaper throws a right and a left that both miss.

McGuire fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging The Reaper to the ground. McGuire is now in The Reaper's guard.
McGuire advances to half guard.

McGuire is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Reaper is just riding it out for now. McGuire eventually gives up the hold.

McGuire seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. The Reaper is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Boyd McGuire!
Our winner, Boyd McGuire, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
