PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Gallagher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Grayson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frederick Gallagher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dick Grayson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grayson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gallagher counters with a nice kick to the body.
Grayson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gallagher counters with a good, hard body kick but Grayson shrugs it off.
Grayson misses with a takedown attempt - Gallagher sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Grayson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gallagher tries to avoid it but Grayson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gallagher to the ground. Gallagher escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Frederick Gallagher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dick Grayson.
Grayson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gallagher swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Grayson shoots and misses
and Gallagher counters with an inside leg kick.
No luck for Grayson with that takedown attempt.
Grayson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gallagher sprawls well. Gallagher wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grayson gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee asks Gallagher politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gallagher prefers to stall for the moment though.

Gallagher is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Grayson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Gallagher is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Grayson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Grayson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gallagher is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grayson wants to get back to his feet but Gallagher drags him back down.

We're going to have a standup here because Frederick Gallagher wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Grayson has had enough of the clinch but Gallagher keeps him there for the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gallagher tries to score a body lock takedown but Grayson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gallagher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Grayson is in a horrible position here. Gallagher smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
