Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Bate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tyrone Bate was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tyrone Bate! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bate displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tsushima. Tsushima blocks a jab. Tsushima takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bate scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. A decent looking cross lands there for Bate. Tsushima gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Tsushima takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've been informed that Bate has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Tsushima shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bate as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chibi Tsushima. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bate throws a jab when Tsushima was well out of range. Bate stuffs the takedown attempt from Tsushima. Tsushima gets slowly back to his feet. Chibi Tsushima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bate misses with the combination.

Tsushima is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bate pulls him back up using the underhooks. Still in the clinch, Bate scores with a nice short uppercut. Tsushima blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Bate lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Tsushima wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bate has him pressed against the cage. Bate tries a body shot but Tsushima blocks it.

This has been an exciting period of action! A nice right hand lands inside from Tsushima. Bate throws a head punch that misses. Tsushima has been working on his balance at Tōshi, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Bate. Tsushima is looking for a takedown. Bate blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Tsushima. Tsushima tries to break the clinch but Bate is controlling the position. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Tsushima as Bate tries to tie him up. Bate blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Tsushima has Bate pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bate manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Tsushima lands with a light punch inside. Tsushima has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bate is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bate works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Bate tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Bate stalls. Tsushima pushes Bate back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bate makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Bate tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tsushima's elbow. Tsushima works on Bate's body with a couple of short punches. Bate fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Tsushima pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bate gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tsushima to score an easy takedown into full guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Tsushima pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bate is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bate trying to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chibi Tsushima will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tsushima is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bate's half guard. Bate trying to control from the bottom.
Bate wants to improve his position but Tsushima is controlling well.

Bate lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Bate preventing the sweep. Bate throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bate working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tsushima's head. Bate with a flurry of punches that miss. Tsushima is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bate trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bate works a leg free and moves into half guard. Bate wants to control but Tsushima is keeping him busy. Tsushima is looking to improve his position.
Tsushima moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Bate trying to control the position from guard on top but Tsushima is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bate throwing strikes but missing. Bate not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Tsushima is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bate scoring with strikes to the body and head. Bate prevents Tsushima from improving his position. Tsushima is pressing down on Bate's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Tsushima wants to improve his position but instead Bate has moved into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bate seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Tsushima makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tsushima. Tsushima trying to keep a closed guard but Bate is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Tsushima tries to hold on but Bate pushes him away. Tsushima is trying to escape the mount.
Bate unloading with bombs! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bate wants to control the pace but Tsushima is squirming around nicely. Bate cracks Tsushima with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Tsushima regains half guard. Bate takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Tsushima tries to roll over but Bate keeps him under control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bate perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyrone Bate showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Bate works over Tsushima with some ground and pound from guard. Tsushima wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bate working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bate scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Bate pushes down on Tsushima's leg and manages to get into half guard. Bate wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tsushima keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bate uses his free foot to push down on Tsushima's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tsushima. Tsushima is desperately trying to improve his position but Bate has a good base and remains in mount. Tsushima is working hard here to advance position. Bate landing punches. Bate tries to control but Tsushima wriggling away. Tsushima is working to get back to half guard.

No, Bate has managed to get both his arms back between Tsushima's legs - danger averted. Tsushima wants to improve his position but instead Bate has moved into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bate trying to control the action but Tsushima is working from the bottom. The fighters are battling for position here. Tsushima manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Bate working some strikes from top position. Tsushima looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bate is one step ahead there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bate stands up over Tsushima, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Bate preventing the sweep. Bate trying to control the position from guard on top but Tsushima is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tsushima had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bate defends it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bate is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyrone Bate comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Bate has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
