The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall wants to clinch

and Figueira counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Figueira is stalling in the full guard.
Figueira wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving.
Figueira wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paulo Figueira was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Figueira is looking to clinch but Hall is avoiding it.
Paulo Figueira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hall moves into range and clinches up with Figueira.
Figueira is trying to break the clinch but Hall is controlling him.
