Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ernesto Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paulo Figueira! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall wants to clinch and Figueira counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Figueira is stalling in the full guard. Figueira wants to control from the top but Hall keeps moving. Figueira wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Paulo Figueira was stalling too much, according to the referee. Figueira is looking to clinch but Hall is avoiding it.
Paulo Figueira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hall moves into range and clinches up with Figueira. Figueira is trying to break the clinch but Hall is controlling him. Figueira jumps guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Figueira looking to control.
Figueira avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Figueira is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hall has his hands clasped together but Figueira extends and breaks Hall's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Figueira.
