Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Childish Gambino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shalako Carlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gambino comes to the cage accompanied by Freaks and Geeks. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Childish Gambino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Shalako Carlin! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Carlin rushes Gambino and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Gambino wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gambino pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Carlin wants to clinch. Carlin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gambino doesn't seem bothered though. The fight moves into the clinch position. Carlin misses with a hook from the clinch. Gambino is trying to push Carlin away but Carlin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Carlin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gambino's elbow. Gambino blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Carlin just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gambino's brow. Carlin manages to break the clinch.
Carlin on the wrong end of a nice jab. Carlin throws a head kick that misses and Gambino counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Carlin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gambino, pushing him back against the cage. Nice elbow from Carlin.
It looks like Childish Gambino has been cut. Gambino working hard to break the clinch. Carlin lands with a left to the head. Carlin tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Carlin lands a knee to the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Carlin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carlin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gambino misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Gambino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlin throws a combination that misses and Gambino counters with a nice uppercut. Gambino misses the jab. Gambino dodges the punch combination from Carlin.
Carlin needs to keep his hands up - Gambino had a free shot at his head there. Gambino lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Carlin takes a swing at Gambino's ribcage but misses. Gambino throws a right hand that Carlin ducks under and follows up with a left that Carlin also avoids with ease. Carlin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Carlin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gambino eats them both and turns towards Carlin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gambino tries to bum rush Carlin with a series of wild strikes but Carlin uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Carlin clinches with his opponent.
Carlin content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Carlin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Carlin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Carlin shoots in looking for a takedown but Gambino manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carlin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Carlin ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Carlin blocks a head kick by Gambino.
Gambino displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Carlin throws out the jab. Carlin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gambino sprawls well initially but Carlin persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Gambino is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gambino tries to get to full guard but Carlin has control of the leg. Carlin not doing much here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carlin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gambino wants to improve his position but Carlin is controlling well.
Carlin wants to stand up but Gambino manages to regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shalako Carlin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Childish Gambino's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Gambino moves out of range of the body kick from Carlin.
Carlin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Carlin is keen to just control but Gambino is a slippery customer. Carlin lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Carlin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gambino slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlin with a flurry of punches that miss. Carlin wants to control from the top but Gambino keeps moving. Gambino kicks Carlin off and gets to his feet. Carlin throws a combination. Gambino tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Carlin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gambino paws at him with a jab and circles away. Carlin moves in looking to clinch but Gambino pushes him off. Gambino connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Carlin's hands. Gambino uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carlin.
Carlin fails with the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gambino looks to land a left hand but Carlin moved out of range nicely. Carlin tries to clinch but fails miserably enabling Gambino to counter with a crisp jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gambino swinging wildly here.
Childish Gambino is winning the standup battle so far. Carlin throws out a loose jab but Gambino uses good head movement to avoid it. Sloppy strikes from Gambino. Those never looked like landing. Gambino keeps the fight on the outside. Gambino takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Childish Gambino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carlin tries a head kick but it misses.
Carlin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gambino is trying to defend but Carlin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gambino is trying to stand up here but Carlin is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gambino is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carlin pulls his head out easily. Gambino looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gambino is staying active underneath Carlin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Carlin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gambino haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Carlin tries to pass to full mount but Gambino defends it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Carlin lands a nice short elbow. Carlin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Gambino is looking for a sweep. Carlin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gambino looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Carlin is trying to control. Gambino wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Carlin is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gambino manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gambino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gambino utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carlin preventing the sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shalako Carlin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Childish Gambino's cut. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Carlin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gambino manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carlin shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gambino as he avoids it easily. Carlin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Carlin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gambino's guard. Carlin looking to sit in guard and control but Gambino gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gambino trying to control the position from guard on top but Carlin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carlin keeping full guard, as Gambino tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlin wants to sweep but no luck. Gambino has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Carlin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gambino gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gambino passes into half guard. Gambino stalling away here and it's allowed Carlin to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Gambino trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gambino pushing down on Carlin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Carlin gets full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gambino stands and throws Carlin's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gambino is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Carlin has escaped the position, nice work there. Carlin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gambino's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Carlin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gambino is working away from the top position though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gambino seems to be working for a kimura but Carlin defends the submission attempt. Gambino wants to work for an arm triangle but Carlin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carlin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Carlin wants to control but Gambino is keeping busy.

We've been hearing that Gambino has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Gambino is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shalako Carlin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Carlin is defending against the submission attempts here by Gambino.
Childish Gambino has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gambino is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carlin is just riding it out for now. Gambino eventually gives up the hold.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Shalako Carlin. Well Carlin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
