Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pegg Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aoki Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Funkyama has chosen as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pegg Frost!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aoki Funkyama!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Frost misses

and Funkyama counters with a nice double leg into side control. Frost won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Frost is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Funkyama connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Frost some visible discomfort.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No joy there for Funkyama, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Frost ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Funkyama moves away.
Funkyama shoots in looking for a takedown. Frost tries to sprawl out of it but Funkyama keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frost manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Frost tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Funkyama paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Funkyama shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Frost sprawls well. Frost wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Funkyama gets slowly back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Frost enables Funkyama to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Frost manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pegg Frost will probably get the nod.
