Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Seymour Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Paine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seymour Reilly has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Seymour Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Paine!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paine misses with the combination.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Paine.

Paine shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reilly manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Paine wants to stand but Reilly has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Paine wants to control from the top but Reilly keeps moving.
Reilly tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reilly is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Paine is controlling him.
Paine throwing strikes from guard but Reilly blocks nicely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Max Paine hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Reilly avoids the head kick by Paine.
Reilly fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Paine moves into range and clinches up with Reilly.
Reilly can't get the takedown.
Paine is trying to break free.
Reilly being controlled against the cage.
Paine can't break the clinch.

Reilly is fighting off a takedown attempt but Paine is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Reilly to the mat. Reilly regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Reilly is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Reilly wants to stand and escape but Paine is having none of it.
Reilly striking off his back but it's not causing Paine any problems.
Reilly is wriggling around but Paine manages to pass to half guard.
Reilly really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Reilly tries to kick Paine off but Paine keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reilly does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Reilly is looking to control Paine's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reilly avoid being mounted?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Paine thows a huge punch but Reilly dodges it nicely.
Paine moves into full mount! Reilly won't be happy about that!

Paine has control of Reilly's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Reilly regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Paine misses with a head shot.
Paine wants to control the pace but Reilly is squirming around nicely.
Paine controlling the position easily from mount.
Reilly wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Paine is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Reilly is surviving well by controlling Paine's body position as best he can.

Paine trying to control but Reilly is having none of it.
Reilly is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Paine misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Paine sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Paine can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reilly is looking to escape.
Reilly squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Paine looking to control but Reilly is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Reilly shoots in and drives through. Paine sprawls well.
Paine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reilly paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paine swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Reilly connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reilly.

Paine fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Reilly to the ground. Paine is now in Reilly's guard.
Reilly has control of Paine's left arm, preventing Paine from doing any damage.

Reilly is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Paine is controlling him.

Paine works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Paine prevents Reilly from standing back up.
Reilly is trying to control but can't.

Max Paine has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paine is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Paine wants to stand up but Reilly is controlling the position.
Paine is trying to control the action in half guard but Reilly is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Paine decides to stand up.

Paine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reilly sprawls well initially but Paine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Reilly won't allow Paine to pass to mount.
Paine is looking to take a break and control but Reilly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Paine connects with a nice short shot to Reilly's temple.
Paine wants to pass the guard but Reilly is defending well.
Paine wants to control but Reilly is keeping him busy.
Reilly is trying to stand back up but Paine is controlling him
Reilly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paine is working away from the top position though.
Paine thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reilly's head.

Paine is controlling the pace.
Reilly blocking the ground and pound attempt from Paine.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Reilly darts in looking for a takedown but Paine gets double underhooks and turns Reilly into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seymour Reilly. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Paine jumps guard and drags Reilly to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Max Paine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Reilly.
Paine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reilly wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Paine takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Reilly tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Paine tries to hold on but Reilly postures up.

Reilly sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Paine gets a takedown into half guard.
Paine tries to stand and escape but Reilly is controlling the position.
Reilly wants to get back to his feet.

Paine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reilly does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Paine throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Reilly to regain full guard.
Reilly throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Paine won't allow Reilly to get back to his feet.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Max Paine has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Reilly moves into the clinch successfully.

Reilly manages to break the clinch.

Paine tries to keep at a distance but Reilly has taken the fight into the clinch.
Paine wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Reilly pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Paine looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Paine throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reilly tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Paine is in Reilly's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Paine lands a couple of elbows.
Seymour Reilly has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Max Paine is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Reilly working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Paine has passed into half guard!

Max Paine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Paine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
