PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Noonan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethelbart Takahashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noonan comes to the cage accompanied by 3DD - Kryptonite. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Noonan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethelbart Takahashi!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takahashi attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Takahashi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Noonan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Noonan throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Takahashi.
Noonan moves out of range of the strikes.

Noonan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Takahashi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Noonan goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Takahashi has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Noonan but great work by Takahashi.

Takahashi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Noonan manages to avoid it.

Noonan misses with a takedown attempt - Takahashi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Takahashi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Noonan drops Takahashi with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Takahashi looks back up at him and smiles so Noonan waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Noonan looks to land a body kick but Takahashi moved away.
Takahashi just misses with a punch to the body.
Noonan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ethelbart Takahashi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Noonan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Noonan lands a nice looking kick to the body. Takahashi takes a step back to recover.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Takahashi.
Noonan throws a wild body kick that Takahashi sees coming a mile off.
Noonan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Takahashi. That did some damage!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Noonan connects with a nice short shot to Takahashi's temple.

Noonan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Takahashi sees it coming and defends easily.

Noonan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takahashi is just riding it out for now. Noonan eventually gives up the hold.

Noonan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Takahashi defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Noonan.
Well Noonan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
