Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alec Namiki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rasul Khasbulaev! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Namiki lands a head kick!
It looks like Rasul Khasbulaev has been cut. Khasbulaev gets tackled into the cage by Namiki. Namiki maintains the clinch. Khasbulaev is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Namiki is keeping busy. Namiki lands a nice knee to the body. Khasbulaev is trying to break the clinch but Namiki has him pressed against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Namiki scores a nice knee to the body.
Namiki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Namiki lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Khasbulaev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Namiki fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Khasbulaev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Namiki connects with an inside leg kick. Khasbulaev looks winded! Namiki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Khasbulaev. Namiki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Khasbulaev. That kick from Namiki tenderised Khasbulaev's leg. Khasbulaev is trying to keep his angry face on. Namiki chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Namiki gets in close and instigates a clinch. Namiki lands a knee to the head.
Namiki's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. We've been told by Namiki's head coaches at Ironfist Athletics that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Alec Namiki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Namiki closes the distance and pushes Khasbulaev back into the cage. Namiki breaks the clinch.
Namiki moves into the clinch. Khasbulaev has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Namiki connects with a knee to the head.
Namiki scores with a knee to the head.
Khasbulaev takes a knee to the side of the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Namiki drops Khasbulaev with a big knee straight up the middle! Khasbulaev is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Khasbulaev is rocked! Namiki drives through and clinches with Khasbulaev against the cage.
Khasbulaev is still on wobbly legs! Can Namiki finish him? Namiki scores with a knee to the head.
Namiki working the clinch nicely. Khasbulaev is working for position but Namiki cracks him with a big knee to the head! Khasbulaev crumples up against the cage and Namiki lands two more shots before the ref can save Khasbulaev! This one is all over!
