PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Henry Bonney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Nujoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nujoma is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by King Fantastic - Why? Where? What?. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Nujoma!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonney lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nujoma shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bonney but Bonney pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nujoma misses with a hook. Bonney ducked under it nicely.
Bonney moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A telegraphed right hand from Nujoma misses the target.

Nujoma fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bonney to the ground. Nujoma is now in Bonney's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Nujoma seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bonney does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nujoma takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bonney is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Broken Halo's -Temple of Illumination, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Sam Nujoma has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Nujoma takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Nujoma avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nujoma fails with a takedown attempt.
William Henry Bonney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Nujoma.
Nujoma tests Bonney's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Nujoma tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bonney defends well and Nujoma ends up having to push Bonney into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bonney breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bonney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nujoma is looking for a triangle but Bonney pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that William Henry Bonney will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nujoma throws a jab when Bonney was well out of range.
Nujoma takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Nujoma closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bonney to the mat! Bonney manages to get full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bonney is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nujoma drops back looking for a leg! Bonney is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bonney manages to kick Nujoma off! Nujoma jumps back into Bonney's guard.

Bonney knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nujoma on the ground.

Nujoma wants to clinch up but Bonney keeps it at a distance.

Bonney shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Bonney ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nujoma moves away.
Bonney misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Nujoma counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bonney won't be happy with that.

Sam Nujoma has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nujoma wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bonney keeps working.

Nujoma has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Bonney is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Nujoma yanks on the arm and Bonney is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Nujoma.
