Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Rich Van Clam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Freddie Mercury!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Van Clam as Mercury shoots in.
Van Clam stuffs the takedown.
Mercury misses with a takedown attempt - Van Clam sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rich Van Clam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddie Mercury.

Mercury closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mercury lands in his opponent's guard.
Van Clam wants to hit a switch here but Mercury passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Van Clam there!

Mercury gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Van Clam throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Van Clam stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Mercury pushes down on Van Clam's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Mercury wants to work for an arm triangle but Van Clam is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mercury seems to be looking for submissions.
Mercury working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Van Clam is trying to stand up here but Mercury is controlling him well.

Van Clam shoots for a takedown but Mercury saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Van Clam manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mercury manages to get himself to full guard.
Mercury throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Mercury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mercury is striking but Van Clam is not phased and passes to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mercury working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Van Clam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Van Clam manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Van Clam wants to get up but he can't break Mercury's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Van Clam tries to pull guard but Mercury won't allow it.

Mercury lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mercury has hold of Van Clam's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Van Clam manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Mercury is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Van Clam is desperately trying to improve his position but Mercury has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mercury wants to take his opponent's back but Van Clam doesn't allow it.

I've got Mercury winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
