PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damien Lok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lok's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Butthole Surfers - Pepper. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Lok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riley Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lok throws out a loose jab but Cooper uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cooper gets caught napping as Lok dives in and scores a takedown. Cooper manages to retain guard.

Lok avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lok is one step ahead there.
Lok trying to control the position from guard on top but Cooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lok lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Cooper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lok can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cooper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lok doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lok manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lok chips away with some ground and pound.

Lok advances to half guard.
Lok working over Cooper with some ground and pound. Cooper looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Cooper is trying to get back to full guard.

Cooper is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lok pulls his head out easily.

Cooper looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Lok seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cooper does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cooper is staying active underneath Lok, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lok will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cooper keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Cooper looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Lok wants to take a breather but Cooper is having none of it.

Lok is trying to work for a kimura but Cooper is defending well.

Lok is thwarting Cooper's attempts to control the position.

Lok is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cooper defends it well.

Lok prevents Cooper from improving his position.
Lok passes to side control.
Cooper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lok wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lok cracks Cooper with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Lok scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cooper to see if he's OK.
Cooper manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Lok gets full guard.
Cooper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lok holds on and takes a little breather.
Cooper is working Lok over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cooper is looking to work some ground and pound but Lok has wrist control.

Cooper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lok not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Lok is trying to control the position but Cooper postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cooper stands up over Lok, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Lok has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cooper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damien Lok dominated that round.
That's time! Lok's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cooper ducks under a wild hook from Lok.
Lok jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cooper looks to throw the jab but Lok is out of range.
Damien Lok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lok uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cooper.
Lok pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A telegraphed right hand from Lok misses the target.
Lok fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cooper manages to avoid it.
Cooper lands a jab to the head.
A swing and a miss from Lok.
Lok looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Cooper postures up and lands a big shot to Lok's brow.
Cooper scores with a decent looking elbow strike.


Lok is rocked!
Lok has momentary wrist control but Cooper slips an elbow through the middle.
Oh Lok is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cooper loads up on a big left hand. Lok felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Cooper looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Lok can't hide his disappointment, as Cooper celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Riley Cooper!
A relieved looking Riley Cooper thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
