PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Augustus Belmont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaito Rin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belmont comes into the arena with 2pac feat. Ice Cube - Bow Down blaring out of the sound system. Rin has chosen Death Before Dishonor as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Belmont.
Belmont on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Rin throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Belmont counters with a nice leg kick.
Rin stuns Belmont with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rin takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Belmont fakes the leg kick and cracks Rin in the body.

A punch lands to the side of Rin 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Rin goes for a double leg but Belmont avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Belmont continues to drive forward.

Rin's coach down at Elite MMA Training Facility was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Belmont lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Belmont throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Belmont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Rin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Belmont won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belmont takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
We've been hearing good reports from Belmont's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Augustus Belmont will probably get the nod.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Belmont here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Rin is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
