Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Georgy Fokin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Ruden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Georgy Fokin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Ruden!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruden moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A good leg kick by Ruden.
Ruden misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fokin.
Both fighters circling a little - Ruden finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Ruden throws a leg kick which misses Fokin's front leg but catches the back leg as Fokin tries to avoid it.

It looks like Georgy Fokin has been cut.
Ruden looks to land a right hand but Fokin moved out of range.
Fokin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Ruden stuffs the takedown attempt from Fokin. Fokin gets slowly back to his feet.
An inside leg kick from Ruden misses.
Ruden has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Ruden darts in looking for a takedown but Fokin gets double underhooks and turns Ruden into the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fokin pulls Ruden in close to his closed guard and prevents Ruden from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ruden fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fokin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ruden throws a shot from downtown. Fokin moves away and avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ruden uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Fokin.

Ruden throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fokin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ruden is in Fokin's guard.
Ruden throws an elbow that misses. Fokin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ruden's guard. Nice move by Fokin!
Ruden wants to sweep here but Fokin controlling him for the moment.

Ruden lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Fokin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruden doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruden manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ruden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ruden lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Fokin is trying to pull guard but Ruden has him pressed against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Ruden.
Ruden misses with a body punch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Fokin jumps guard but Ruden stands there with Fokin around his waist. Fokin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fokin manages to break the clinch.
Fokin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fokin there as he acknowledges the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Joe Ruden seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fokin moves out of range as Ruden strikes.
Ruden takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ruden connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Fokin shoots in but no luck this time.

Ruden shoots in for a takedown but Fokin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fokin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ruden smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Fokin lands a lovely overhand right.
Fokin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Fokin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fokin showed some decent athleticism there.

Ruden is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ruden is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fokin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fokin's back!

Fokin is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ruden gets his way!

We've been hearing good reports from Fokin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
