Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Luken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Crasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacob Luken could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Johnny Crasher's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Luken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Crasher!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ben Hemmingworth and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luken throws a right and a left that both miss.
Crasher throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Luken tries to clinch there but Crasher circles away.

Crasher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Luken sprawls well initially but Crasher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Luken is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Crasher is working for a submission of some sort.
Crasher tries to stand and escape but Luken is controlling the position.
My spies in Finch Farm inform me that Crasher has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Luken wants to improve his position but Crasher is controlling well.
Crasher is thwarting Luken's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Luken drives through with a takedown into guard.

Luken drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Crasher dives on top into guard.
Luken manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crasher manages to get himself to full guard.
Crasher wants to stand up but Luken is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luken trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Crasher is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Crasher is pressing down on Luken's thigh, looking to free his foot. Luken is holding on for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Luken wants to control but Crasher is keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Luken is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Crasher tries to stand but can't do so whilst Luken controls his leg.
Luken is pressing down on Crasher's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Luken holds on and takes a little breather.
Luken manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crasher manages to get himself to full guard.

Luken drops back, looking for a kneebar! Crasher looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Crasher looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Crasher!
Crasher is working Luken over with some ground and pound from side control.
Luken is trying to improve his position.
Crasher wants to control but Luken is keeping him busy.
Luken tries to bench press Crasher off him but Crasher keeps the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Luken is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Luken is trying to maintain the position but Crasher is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Crasher avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Luken closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Luken lands in his opponent's guard.
Luken not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Luken is looking to work some ground and pound but Crasher has wrist control.
Crasher is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Luken is pushing down on Crasher's leg trying to pass to half guard. Crasher is fighting to maintain full guard but Luken has managed to sneak the leg through.
Crasher won't allow Luken to pass to mount.

Luken is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Luken looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Luken drops an elbow to the side of Crasher's head.

Luken seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crasher does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Luken is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Crasher still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Crasher has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Crasher is looking to take a break and control but Luken is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Crasher is looking to stall here but Luken recovers full guard.

Luken looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Crasher would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Crasher wants to control from the top but Luken keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johnny Crasher.

Crasher throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Luken tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Crasher is in Luken's guard.
Luken has Crasher pulled in close to control his posture.

Luken looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Crasher trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Crasher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Crasher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crasher wants it to stay on the feet.

Crasher closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Luken's guard.
Crasher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Luken works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Luken has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A nice inside leg kick there by Luken. That's going to slow Crasher down.
Crasher throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Luken clinches up with Crasher and pushes him back against the cage.

Luken drops back looking for a leg! Crasher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Crasher manages to kick Luken off! Luken jumps back into Crasher's guard.

Luken is looking to work some ground and pound but Crasher has wrist control.

Luken drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Crasher manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Luken has Crasher in his guard.

Crasher wants to control from the top but Luken keeps moving.
Luken seems keen to control Crasher's posture.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Johnny Crasher wasn't active enough on the ground.

Luken clinches up against the cage.

Crasher has hold of one of Luken's legs. Luken is fighting the takedown attempt but Crasher gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Luken is pulling down on Crasher's head. It's preventing any offense from Crasher, at least for the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Luken is on top in guard.
Luken throws an elbow that misses. Crasher uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Luken's guard. Nice move by Crasher!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jacob Luken.
Well Luken has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
